Margaret Ann Davolos
February 10, 1926 - March 28, 2022
Margaret Ann (Davies) Davolos Margaret passed peacefully in her sleep while visiting one of her sons in Cheltenham, PA. She grew up in Philadelphia, lived and raised her family in Cinnaminson, NJ and enjoyed the last 30 years of her life in Rockledge, FL and finally Orlando, FL with one of her daughters. She had many fond memories growing up in Philadelphia with loving parents and 3 older brothers. She shared stories about attending both Catholic and public schools and also funny stories about going sledding with the family dog and sneaking food from her dinner plate to the dog when no one was watching. After high school, she worked at the Navy Depot and later at Tastykake before meeting and marrying the love of her life. She and Frank were married for 60 years until his death in 2013. They both loved children and wanted a large family. They had 7 children, 14 grandchildren and 24 great- grandchildren. She is survived by 3 sons and 3 daughters - Rosemary Curtis, Frank, Jr.(Tracy), Charlotte Shinn, Mary Davolos, James (Bonnie) and Anthony. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Margaret Sweeney. She is also survived by 14 loving grandchildren - Kelly Glink, Sarah Donnelly, Adam Sweeney, Frank Davolos, Travis Davolos, Adrian Shinn, Justin Davolos, Claudia Locantora, Erika Velazquez, James Davolos, Jr., Charissa Davolos, Joseph Davolos, Anthony Davolos, Jr., and Abigail Davolos. She was blessed to see the birth of 24 great-grandchildren during her later years. She was very active and could be seen while in her 70’s running down the beach in Cape Canaveral flying a kite with her grandkids. She was an enthusiastic gardener and had competitions with her oldest brother, Jim, to see who could raise the largest and best- tasting fruits and vegetables every summer. She was artistic and loved to paint and draw; she was an avid reader and especially loved murder mysteries, swapping Sue Grafton and Dick Francis books with 2 of her daughters; she loved playing cards (and pretending she wasn’t very good), doing Sudoku, crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles. She loved music, loved to dance, and really loved to make people laugh. She was caught on video leading the dancing at grandson Adam’s wedding in 2020 and there is video evidence of her enjoying music with family and friends at every opportunity. During her time in Orlando, she joined 2 Red Hat groups with her daughter. She loved getting her hair and nails done and dressing up to go out to lunch or dinner. During her last years she enjoyed Parcheesi, Tiki Toss on the back porch and watching the birds on the lake with a glass of red wine for Happy Hour. She was an amazing example of how to live life fully and appreciate each day as it comes. She and Frank were a wonderful example to their children and grandchildren of what a loving marriage looks like. She loved God and believed that He would come for her when it was time and she would be reunited with her beloved Frank and other family members who preceded her. There will be a Celebration of her life on July 3rd at her son's home in Cheltenham, PA. Please reach out to family members if you are planning to attend for more details.
