Anne Kirk Neff

Anne Kirk Neff, born in Downingtown, PA, died quietly at Foulkeways Retirement Community, Lower Gwynedd, PA, on November 6, 2021. She was born October 21, 1930, the first daughter of Bartram Cornog Kirk and Marion Smedley Reynolds Kirk Mason. Anne’s schooling started in a one-room school house on Horseshoe Pike in Little Washington, PA, and graduated high school from George School in Newtown, PA. She studied Library Sciences at Earlham College, Richmond, Indiana, earned her Associates Degree from Montgomery County Community College, Blue Bell, Pennsylvania, and then graduated from Temple University, Ambler, Pennsylvania with an Accounting degree. She met her lifelong sweetheart Robert (Bob) Neff while at George School and they went on to have 5 children. She helped organize the first library at Lincoln Elementary School in Norristown, where all of her children attended. Anne was a birthright Quaker, having been a member of Goshen, Willistown, and Norristown meetings. She is survived by husband Robert Neff of Foulkeways, Gwynedd, Pennsylvania, 3 sons: Robert Rugan Neff (Sandy Davis Neff) of Cedar Park, Texas, Stephen Lewis Neff (Dena Farley Neff) of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, Richard Kirk Neff (Nell Riviere-Platt) of Indiana, Pennsylvania, and Elizabeth Hamilton Neff (spouse of David Bartram Neff); nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and sisters Kathleen Kirk Newman (Nicholas Newman) and Margi Mason, and sister-in- law Marjorie Neff. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara Ann Neff Mayes and her spouse Terry Sullivan, and her son David Bartram Neff. A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 18th, 2021 at Gwynedd Friends Meeting House, 1101 Dekalb Pike, Gwynedd, PA 19454, at 11am. Masks are required for attending the service. In addition, the family encourages attendees get covid tested (and not attend if positive) to protect at risk attendees. A reception will be held at Normandy Farms Hotel and Conference Center (Blue Bell) following the memorial service. The family requests mask wearing while not eating. There will be no burial at this time, as her body was donated to the Humanity Gifts Registry. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her and Dave’s honor to American Brain Tumor Association.
